Training program #1-Advanced Athletic Performance

Speed: Defensive
Movement: lateral movement
Position: Outfield
Drill: Gap to Gap run  x 5
player sets up cones 40 yards apart (120feetapart) the player will start on one side and with a partner facing you. You will then break towards the opposite side and catch a ball then break back to start and catch a ball there
Added difficulty: use barehands and tennis balls
Drill: Break in then out x 5
player will set up facing in towards the inf. Set up three cones one were you start and another 20 yards in front then another 40 yards behind the player will break in field a ground ball then break back for a popfly.
Each of the above drills should be done 5 times each day and at full speed. As we progress I will be sending you a SPS training system for added difficulty.
Speed: Reaction
Tennis ball drill:
starting with a distance of 10 feet  your partner will drop a tennis ball as soon as they release it you will break towards it  and catch it before it bounces a second time progress back 5 feet after three successive catches in a row keep track of your progress.
Speed: straight base path speed
5 stage sprint 90 feet: x 3
1 stage laying: on your stomach facing home plate you get up and break towards second
2 stage 2 knees: on two knees with hands on you knees the player will break up and over towards second
3 stage 1 knees: kneeling with your drive leg knee on the ground you will drive up and out toward second base
4 stage back to second: with your back to second the player will turn and sprint to second base
5 stage: full sprint
*for added difficulty you will add resistance using the tightline with the SPS training system using a partner or dead weight
Skill: Power - Throwing
Tools: small 2lbs  med ball -
standing over hand throws ( be sure to keep elbow up) 3x15
side straddle throws 3x15
step through over head throw 3x15
skill: hitting strength
tools: medball 10-12lbs
standing straight arm twist:
holding hands out stretch with medicine ball hold to one side and rotate quickly and toss ball to the opposite side.
hurricane toss:
holding medball down by your foot then explodes up and Over opposite shoulder.
seated straight arm toss:
just like the standing toss but only sitting.
conditioning:
10 yard intervals x 5: time you fastest and try to beat it by the 5th time keep and record your time:
25 yard -50 yard x 5: set up three conestwo 25 yards apart then the third 50 yards start by sprinting to the second cone that is 25 yards then plant and break towards the one that is 50 yards a way.
