LYNETTE DESCHLER

WHERE: Portland, Oregon
WHAT: Head Performance Training Specialist at SPARQ
TRAINING SPECIALTY: Focuses on functional training
BACKGROUND: If training credentials were snowflakes, former cross-country ski champ Lynette Deschler would be buried under an avalanche. This native of Lake Tahoe, California, has not just one masters, but two—earned at the same time at The University of Western Australia. She is certified in Stott Pilates and to teach kick-butt classes like Kwando, Spinning, Sculpt, and a slew of others. She also receives training from the Gray Institute of Functional Transformation, which has a big impact on her training technique and drills.

During her stint Down Under, she trained a variety of Aussie athletes, including numerous Olympic contenders. She also worked with the Perth Wildcats—no, not a bunch of animals but a wild team in the Australian Basketball League. After returning stateside, Lynette trained a men's professional lacrosse team, the Portland LumberJax, and worked with soccer players from the Mexican national team. So it's no shocker Lynette says she likes "working with all athletes. Every movement an athlete does is unique. Being able to work with all different movement patterns is how I like to challenge myself."
